Diego is a travel day-tracker. It is built so that your travel history stays on your iPhone. This policy explains what the app handles and where it goes.

The short version

  • Diego has no accounts, no servers of its own, no analytics and no advertising.
  • Your trips, settings and day counts are stored only on your device.
  • Nothing is sold, shared with data brokers, or used to track you across apps or websites.

Information stored on your device

Everything you enter (trips, US states and cities, visas, your name if you add one, citizenship and preferences) is saved in a file inside the app on your iPhone. The developer never receives it. Deleting the app, or using Reset App in Profile, removes it.

If your iPhone is backed up to iCloud or a computer, that backup may include Diego's data, under Apple's terms and your own backup settings.

Location

If you turn on automatic day-detection, Diego uses your device's approximate location (accurate to about a kilometer) to work out which country, US state and city each day counts toward. It uses iOS's significant-location-change and visit monitoring, which work in the background without continuous GPS.

To turn a location into a place name, Diego uses Apple's geocoding service, which sends the coordinates to Apple. This is handled under Apple's Privacy Policy. The resulting place names are stored on your device. Diego never sends your location anywhere else.

Location access is optional. You can log every trip by hand, and you can change or revoke permission at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Diego schedules reminders about approaching residency thresholds on your device. They are not sent from a server.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Diego never sees your payment details. The app reads your subscription status from Apple on the device to decide which features your plan includes.

Exports and sharing

Reports you export (CSV, PDF or calendar files) or summaries you share are created on your device and go only where you choose to send them.

Children

Diego is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
